May Day Vintage Tea Cup Workshop for Kids

-

May Day celebrates the onset of spring and dates back to Roman times as a festival of flowers. Maypoles were tied with colorful ribbons and children danced around them. Traditionally, people would make small baskets of flowers and treats and leave as a surprise for neighbors or loved ones on their door. On Saturday May 1 from 11:00 – 12:30 the Wilton Historical Society will be offering a May Day Workshop for Kids. Guided by Museum Educator Katherine Karlik, the kids will tuck a small flowering plant into a vintage tea cup, and will make a small floral picture on burlap using their fingerprints to create the image as well. Either of these projects will make a heartfelt gift, perhaps for Mother’s Day. Suggested for ages 6 – 12.

To adhere to safety guidelines, the workshop is limited to 12 participants. Weather permitting, the workshop will be held outdoors, under a tent.

Wilton Historical Society Members $15; Non-members $20.
