Find your holiday glow during a fun afternoon at the Wilton Historical Society’s Great Trains Holiday Show. On Saturday, December 9th, from 10:00 – 4:00, it’s Holly Jolly Saturday – a day packed full of holiday festivities and of course, trains!
The highlight of the day is a visit from Santa from 1:00 to 3:00, who will be seated in the Society’s 1860’s Abbott Barn. It’s the perfect opportunity for kids to share what they’d like to see under the tree. Santa is free with admission to the Great Trains Holiday Show.
Silhouette artist Debbie O’Connor will be creating her amazing heirloom portraits from 10:00 – 2:00 by appointment. Using scissors as her only tool creates beautiful silhouettes in a matter of minutes, which are the perfect holiday gift to take home. Please call 203-762-7257 to reserve a booking now.
Up in the Toy Loft is a marvelous miniature Holiday Snow Village, created by Wilton residents Moira Craw and Justin Ramsteck. In addition to approximately 65 entrancing buildings, there are teensy moving figures, including swans a-swimming, children skating on a pond, kids sledding and skiing down hills, and even people dancing in one of the whimsical houses!
And don’t forget the train displays! Decorated for the Great Trains Holiday Show, the historic 18th and 19th century buildings at Wilton Historical have been transformed into a train-lovers delight with trains winding through tiny towns with many different kinds of buildings, tunnels, and village scenes, on layouts for G, HO, N, O, Z and Lego. The interactive display enchants visitors of all ages with lots of interactive lights, sounds, and accessories and knowledgeable “train engineers” on hand to “talk trains”.
In search of a great holiday gift? The Betts Store museum shop features Wilton-themed items and is stocked full of eclectic mix of locally made, hand-crafted items. It’s a “best bet” stop for great gifts!
Admission to the Great Trains Holiday Show: Free for all Members; Non-members: $5 per child and $10 per adult.
