Step back in time and explore history in an engaging, hands-on way at our Wilton Historical Society Open House events once a month.

Our Open House Events are a special opportunity for visitors to experience the rich heritage of early American life. Each month features a unique demonstration highlighting traditional skills and trades that were essential during the Colonial times. Demonstrations will take place from 11am to 2pm. 

Admission is free and open to all, making it a wonderful outing for families, history enthusiasts, and anyone curious about the past.

What to Expect:

  • Live Demonstrations: Watch our skilled artisans and educators showcase historical crafts and skills such as Colonial Weaving, Blacksmithing, Embroidery, and Colonial Gardening, as well as many others.
  • Interactive Experiences: Depending on the demonstration, you may even have the chance to try your hand at these timeless techniques.
  • Explore Our Exhibits: In addition to the demonstration, guests can tour our museum spaces, including our brand new exhibit “Puzzle Pieces: Putting Wilton Together” as well as our 1900s Touch Kitchen, visitors will have a wonderful opportunity to learn more about Wilton’s past.
  • Shop the Betts Museum Store: Here you will discover beautiful gifts for all occasions, from jewelry, scarves, and letterpress note cards to nifty toys, games and crafts for kids. We are committed to supporting local craftsmen and businesses; some items are made in Wilton, some in Connecticut, and all are made in the U.S.A. Museum Members also receive 10% off their entire purchases.
