This Program Is Hosted by Wilton Library
As we bring our year-long celebration of America’s 250th birthday to a close, please join us for a screening of The Mather Legacy: An American Story, a film about America’s history set in our own backyard. The Mather Homestead recently premiered their new half-hour documentary narrated by Emmy and Peabody Award-winning narrator, Scott Pelley, a former CBS Evening News anchor and 60 Minutes correspondent, and have now generously made the film available to schools, public libraries and historical societies. This program is being co-sponsored by the Wilton Library.

The documentary relates the compelling saga of the Mather family through their first arrival in the New World in 1635 to the family’s philanthropic decision to donate their home, built in 1778, to the Mather Homestead Foundation in 2017.
The film includes interviews with leading American historians and experts, and was directed and written by Emmy Award-winner, Timothy Smith and produced for The Mather Homestead by the American Issues Initiative. The original score was composed by Emmy winner, Robert Lydecker.
There will be an audience Q & A following the screening with writer and director Timothy Smith, and Nick Foster, Director of the Wilton Historical Society.
