“What Does Community Mean?” Panel Discussion

-

What makes a “welcoming” community and what does it mean to be a part of one? The Wilton Historical Society recently announced the opening of its latest exhibition Puzzle Pieces: Putting Wilton Together. This exhibition, funded by a generous grant from the Wilton Kiwanis Club, strives to help visitors create a sense of belonging in the town. This exhibition uses interactive elements, oral histories, and rarely seen items from the Wilton Historical Society’s museum collection to tell the stories of all those who have put Wilton together, and help visitors understand their place in the community in the present and future.

To kick off the opening of the exhibit, the Society is partnering with
Wilton Youth Council and their #WiltonIsWhereYouBelong campaign and Wilton Kiwanis for a panel discussion about the importance of community, creating a sense of belonging, and stories about when residents felt welcome in town. Wilton Historical Society Director Nick Foster will be joined by Chandra Ring of Wilton Youth Council and Mary Anne Mendola Franco from Wilton Kiwanis for a discussion about Wilton History, what Wilton means to them, and how important it is to have a community that you belong to.

Discussion will be held at the Wilton Historical Society at 6 PM on Thursday, March 6th. Attendees will have the opportunity to ask questions of the panelists and tour the new exhibition. Light refreshments will be served.

This is a free program. Registration is not required but is requested.
